About Me
I began narrating audiobooks professionally in late 2022, after working as a volunteer for Librivox for about two years before that. Credits for my professional work appear on the Audiobooks page.
I have a BA in English and an MFA in Theater (playwriting), have acted in college workshops and community theater productions, and have written plays that were produced at local colleges. I worked for four years as a radio announcer as well. I got hooked on audio by listening to recordings of old radio shows when I was 11 years old. My parents gave me a small reel-to-reel tape recorder one Christmas, and I started producing my own programs.
I also have 37 years’ experience in IT, working as a systems analyst and programmer for a Philadelphia bank and later for a major Philadelphia university.
In the audiobook world, I’ve been coached by Patrick Fraley, Joel Froomkin, and Peter Berkrot, with additional workshops from Chris Ciulla, Shannon Parks, and Johnny Heller; and have received studio/workflow assistance from George Whittam, Jim Edgar, and Don Baarns.
I have a home studio equipped with an M3 MacBook Air running Twisted Wave and Izotope RX11, with a Sennheiser MK4 microphone and a Focusrite Solo interface. Edits are done with Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones. Files are stored locally and on Apple’s iCloud platform, with three redundant backups.
I’m a member of PANA (the Professional Audiobook Narrators Association) — and also (something that will come as no surprise when you see the books I’ve done) the North American Jules Verne Society.
